How to allow GeoNadir to zoom to my location

Give GeoNadir location permission in your browser

By giving GeoNadir access to your location in your browser, this allows you to use the ‘Zoom to my location’ feature in the right-hand map edge tools.

You may need to allow GeoNadir access to your location in both the browser level and computer system preferences level.

Find your current location on the map

  1. On your computer, open GeoNadir.

  2. On the right-hand map edge tools, click Zoom to my location

    . The map will zoom to your location.

How GeoNadir finds your current location

GeoNadir estimates where you are from sources like location information from your web browser.

Give GeoNadir location permission

To center the map where you are, you must give GeoNadir permission to find your location.

On macOS, you may need to turn on Location Services for your browser before you can grant GeoNadir permission in your browser:

  1. On your computer, open System Preferences > Security & Privacy Preferences > Privacy > Location Services.

  2. To allow for changes, at the bottom left, click the lock.

  3. Next to "Enable Location Services," check the box.

  4. Next to your browser, check the box.

  5. Give GeoNadir (https://data.geonadir.com) location permission in your browser.

Chrome

  1. On your computer, open Chrome and go to GeoNadir.

  2. On the right map edge tools, click Zoom to my location

    • If you're asked to share your location, choose Allow.

    • If the map zooms to your location, then GeoNadir already has location permission in your browser.

    • If there’s a message that says "GeoNadir does not have permission to use your location," continue to the next steps.

  3. To the left of the web address, click Lock

  4. Click Site settings.

  5. To the right of "Location," choose Allow.

  6. Reload the GeoNadir page and click Zoom to my location

Firefox

  1. On your computer, open Firefox and go to GeoNadir.

  2. At the bottom right, click Zoom to my location

    • When asked to share your location, choose Allow or Allow location access.

    • You might find "Show your location" instead.

    • If the map zooms to your location, then GeoNadir already has location permission in your browser.

    • If there’s a message that says "GeoNadir does not have permission to use your location," continue to the next steps.

  3. To the left of the web address, click Lock

  4. Click Connection secure

    and then

    More information.

  5. Select Permissions.

  6. To the right of "Access your location," uncheck Use Default. Then, choose Allow.

  7. Reload the GeoNadir page and click Zoom to my location

Safari

Important: To use Safari, you must have Location Services enabled.

  1. On your computer, open Safari and go to GeoNadir.

  2. At the bottom right, click Zoom to my location

    • You should be asked to share your location. Choose Allow.

    • If the map zooms to your location, then GeoNadir already has location permission in your browser.

    • If there’s a message that says "GeoNadir does not have permission to use your location," refresh your browser.

To turn on Location Services in Safari:

  1. Click the Apple icon

    and then

    System Preferences.

  2. Click the "Security & Privacy" icon. Then, select Privacy.

  3. In the bottom left, click the Lock icon so that it's unlocked.

  4. Check Enable Location Services.

  5. In the list, check Safari.

  6. Click the Lock icon so that it's locked.

Microsoft Edge

  1. On your computer, open Microsoft Edge and go to GeoNadir.

  2. At the bottom right, click Zoom to my location

    • If you’re asked to share your location, choose Allow.

    • If the map zooms to your location, then GeoNadir already has location permission in your browser.

    • If there’s a message that says "GeoNadir does not have permission to use your location," continue to the next steps.

  3. To the left of the web address, click Lock

  4. Click Permissions for this site.

  5. To the right of "Location," choose Allow.

  6. Reload the GeoNadir page and click My location
